Professional Biography of Surendran C.V.

I am Surendran C.V. I was born in Kannadiparmba, Cheleri Valiya Purayil, Kannur district, Kerala, as the fifth son of Shri Krishnan C.V. Viswakarma and Smt. P.V. Lakshmi.

At the age of 14, I was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy, which left me bedridden. However, I utilized my innate artistic talent, which proved to be a life-saving elixir (a 'Mritasanjivani'), enabling me to pursue painting despite my condition.

My first solo art exhibition was held in 2006 at the Kannur Municipal Town Hall. This exhibition garnered significant attention, leading to over 30 solo exhibitions and nine group exhibitions across India.

During this period, author C. Sathyarajan penned my life story, which was published by Kairali Books under the title "Nisswasangal Thunniya Puthappu" (A Quilt Stitched with Breaths). I have also been honored with the prestigious Kesari KIIAF Award from the International Art Foundation and the Kerala Njeralath Award.

Although I had to take a temporary break from the art world due to various physical complications following the COVID-19 pandemic, I have recently become active again. I am currently residing in Taliparamba, happily married to Nija, who is also a person with disabilities.
